H. Blairman & Sons

H. Blairman & Sons are one of the oldest established antique dealers in Britain. They have sold antiques to many of the world's most important museums and collectors.

H. Blairman & Sons were established in Llandudno, North Wales in 1884 by Harris Blairmann, a Polish émigré (the 2nd 'n' was dropped from the Blairman name in c.1914). Blairman began his career in the antiques trade working for an antique dealer in Birmingham.

Harris was later joined in the business by his sons Philip Blairman (1896/7-1972) and David Blairman, together with Wendy Blairman (d.2006).  In 1949 George Levy (d.1996) joined the business, marrying Wendy Blairman in 1951. George Levy was the grandson of George Cohen and was the managing director of the George Cohen group of companies.

Blairman became of the most well-known antique dealers in the world, with branches in Harrogate, London and New York.  The firm of H. Blairman & Sons continues under the directorship of George Levy's son, Martin Levy, who joined the business in c.1970, and his wife Patricia.

The firm is one of the few antique dealers established in the 19th century that continues to trade as a family business.
